The SAIS Project is part of the European Clean Sky 2 research and development program, created to launch public-private partnerships between the European Commission and the European aviation industry with the aim of creating innovative aircraft in terms of environmental impact, i.e. more efficient in consumption and generally more respectful of the environment throughout their entire life cycle.

It is a CS2 project under the Fast Rotorcraft - Innovative Aircraft Demonstration Platforms (FRC IADP), whose objective is the study of innovative systems that can be integrated with a technological demonstrator operated with rotors and propellers identified in a new generation tiltrotor (the Next -Gen Civil Tiltrotor, NGCT) of Leonardo Helicopter Division.
Abstract
The SAIS project aims to respond to a need of Leonardo Helicopters Division regarding the study design of new generation of flight control systems for Tiltrotor aircraft.
Main Objectives
The aim of the project is the design, development, manufacturing and qualification of a new flight control architecture ergonomically designed and characterized by logical commands, diagnostic capabilities and above all by the presence of haptic sensors, capable of providing a sensory perception of the activation of the command, despite the connection between the command and the actuators is electronic (fly-by-wire).
